Listen to the GeriPal geriatrics and palliative care podcasts and claim Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits through UCSF for a small fee ($100 for the annual subscription that gives you access to claim credit for all the CME podcasts published in 2024). We are aiming for about half of our podcasts in 2024 to have CME credit attached to them, each one designated for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 credits, so that would be about 20 credits per year if all goes well for the $100 fee. For a list of CME eligible podcasts, click here. To register and claim credits for CME follow these instructions:
- Register and pay for the Annual GeriPal CME activity by clicking here. The $100 subscription covers all the CME podcasts published in 2024 (fees help us pay for both our CME costs and production costs for the podcast)
- Listen to any of the individual podcasts published during the year-long activity
- To claim credit, go to the episode webpage after listening to the podcast. If that podcast is CME eligible there will be a note and a link to claim credit at the bottom of the post. For a list of CME eligible podcasts, click here
- Click on the link under “Claim your CME credit” for the episode, at the bottom of the show notes for each podcast (each episode has a unique link). Of note, it may take 24 hours for your registration to finalize, so you may need to wait a day to claim credit after registering.
- Fill out fields (Name, email, profession), select up to 0.75 credit hours of CME, and click the box to confirm participation. Hit submit
- At the end of the year, claim the credits through UCSF by completing the activity evaluation and printing the certificate via this link: https://ww2.highmarksce.com/ucsf/
For issues registering or claiming credit for CME, email me at eric.widera@ucsf.edu (it’s our first year doing this so I expect a hiccup or two)
What do we do with this money? $45 goes to the UCSF CME office for overseeing the CME, and the rest goes to support the production (transcribing the podcast, pay for our producer, and advertise to help disseminate the podcast). None of the money goes to support Alex or Eric (its our hobby).
Note:
Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, UCSF Office of CME is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Each session is equivalent to up to 0.75 CME credit
MOC
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 MOC points per podcast in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
ABIM MOC credit will be offered to subscribers in November, 2024. Subscribers will claim MOC credit by completing an evaluation with self-reflection questions. For any MOC questions, please email moc@ucsf.edu.
